"Clanis phalaris cottoni ssp.n. is described from north and west Thailand. It is distinguished from the nominotypical subspecies, which occurs from Sri Lanka to north India, south Burma and the Nicobar Islands, by characters of the habitus and especially notable differences in the male genitalia. The lectotypes of Sphinx pagana (Fabricius, 1781) and Basiana cervina (Walker, 1856) are designated, and their synonymy with Clanis phalaris (Cramer, 1777) confirmed."
