Abstract:

Summary The comparison of the IOC sequences leads to separate the populations of Coelonia fulvinotata from Madagascar and the one of the African continent. A morphological study of habitus and genitalia confirms the creation of a new taxon : Coelonia insularis n. sp. Reminder of the various species of Caelonia with comparisons by their genitals."

STI taxonomic comments:
In the description of the included newly proposed taxon, "Coelonia insularis", there is no explicit statement indicating the name and location of the collection in which the holotype is, or is to be, deposited. Consequently, the requirements of Article 16.4.2 of the International Code of Nomenclature have not been fulfilled and "Coelonia insularis" is presently an unavailable name.
