Diagnostic description:
Similar to Protambulyx euryalus but forewing upperside less variegated and basal half more distinctly purplish; forewing underside with width of marginal band not widened between veins M1 and M2 and proximal edge even, not crenulated; and postmedial line on hindwing upperside narrower and less crenulated.
Male genitalia: As Protambulyx euryalus but harpe with a higher tooth and phallus with a shorter carina.
