Forewing strongly excavate below apex, especially in the male. Proboscis very short and weak. Forewing colour and pattern resembles Adhemarius donysa but subbasal band extends to the costal edge thus distinguishing the two species.
Male genitalia: Uncus prismatic, broader above than below, simple, curved, narrowed in middle, apex acute in side view, weakly sinuate in dorsal view. Gnathos short, very broad, rounded, apex shallowly sinuate, lateral and distal parts of upperside covered with dense short bristles. Valve apex well-rounded. Harpe indicated by a weak fold separating a triangular piece from the remainder of the valve. Phallus without processes, dorso-lateral margin incrassate, ending in a rounded carina.
