This informal taxon is used here to contain those genera that comprise the sister clade to Acherontiina (vide Kawahara et al., 2009: fig. 2) (Psilogramma, Macropoliana and Notonagemia) and their relatives. It is used here to preserve the current concept of Acherontiina (q.v.) and to prevent paraphyly of subtribe Sphingina. It is provisionally diagnosed by a divided uncus. A new subtribe should be erected for the group in due course.
