Cocytius duponchel
Forewing upperside with black discal dashes between veins M3 and CuA2 not prominent; discal spot transverse, kidney-shaped, dirty white. Hindwing upperside with translucent patch posterior to vein M1 shorter than the black marginal band is broad at vein M1. All foretarsal segments with 2nd internal row of spines developed into a multi-toothed comb; the other rows reduced; slightly curved 1st foretarsal segment much shorter than tibia, little longer than 2nd segment. Mid- and hindtarsi with1st segments as long as respective tibiae. Foretarsus with comb of spines not well marked, the spines of this second internal row being directed distad, as in an ordinary tarsus, but the spines close together, the comb arrangement being more apparent on the distal segments; all 4 rows present on all segments; 1st segment almost as long as tibia, nearly twice as long as 2nd segment. Mid- and hindtarsi with 1st segments about 1.5 mm. longer than their respective tibiae. Forewing upperside quite prominently marked with white; a white dash generally present distal to the discal spot.
Male genitalia: Uncus and gnathos similar to those of Cocytius lucifer, but the gnathos shorter and much broader. Valve very large, the dorso-apical margin strongly curved inwards. Harpe an elongate triangular plate curved dorsad apically, pointed, sharply dentate along its subventral edge and on the dorsal edge at the apex; a large tuft of long and strong bristles at the upper edge near the base of the process. Phallus apically with a long, horizontal, slightly curved tooth that has another, smaller tooth at the proximal side.
Female genitalia: Sterigma broad, the slanting lateral edges recurved forming a low ridge. Ostium bursae opening distal to the middle, with at each side a triangular, flat lobe, the apices of which are more or less rounded.
