"In 1841, Thaddeus W. Harris (1795-1856) published A Report on the Insects of Massachusetts, Injurious to Vegetation. Three more editions of the book were issued, one posthumously. Many taxa of Lepidoptera were described in the book, including twelve butterflies. The book’s complex history is reviewed and publication dates of each edition are proposed. The publication date of Vanessa comma Harris is corrected and a lectotype of this taxon is designated. It is also revealed that Samuel Henshaw (1852-1941) and Charles W. Johnson (1863–1932) prepared determination and type labels contained in the insect collection of T. W. Harris."

"The following contribution to knowledge the family Brahmaeidae SWINHOE, 1892 (Lepidoptera) is part of the series “Brahmaeidae of the World”, which should give a complete overview of this family after completion. New results of studies and new names were incorporated as far as they were known from literature and accessible to us up to the time of printing. On the basis of about 400 individual publications, an attempt was made to create an up-to-date and almost complete overview of the literature on the family Brahmaeidae. The scope made it necessary to subdivide the information into certain subject areas as expediently as possible, which should facilitate subsequent additions or corrections. The 1st Supplement of Part VI of this series deals specifically with a corrected and updated checklist of the taxa in the genera Brahmaea WALKER, 1855 and Dactyloceras MELL in Hering in Seitz, 1927 of the family Brahmaeidae SWINHOE, 1892. "The following contribution to the knowledge of the family Brahmaeidae SWINHOE, 1892 (Lepidoptera) is part of the series "Brahmaeidae of the World", which should give a complete overview of this family after completion. New findings and new names were incorporated as far as they were known from the literature up to the time of printing and were accessible to us. On the basis of almost 400 individual publications, an attempt was made to create an up-to-date and almost complete overview of the literature on the Brahmaeidae family. The scope made it necessary to subdivide the information into certain subject areas as expediently as possible, which should facilitate subsequent additions or corrections. Part IB deals specifically with the synonyms and subspecies of B. (Brahmophthalma) wallichii (GRAY, 1831) of the wallichii group (sensu Paukstadt & Paukstadt 2021) of the subgenus Brahmophthalma MELL, 1928 of the genus Brahmaea WALKER, 1855. This first coherent analysis of the Brahmaeidae family is not intended to represent a revision, but merely to show the current state of knowledge and provide a good working basis for further studies on the family Brahmaeidae SWINHOE, 1892."

"The following contribution to the knowledge of the family Brahmaeidae SWINHOE, 1892 (Lepidoptera, Bombycoidea) is based in part on a twenty-year-old manuscript. The almost print-ready version was never finally edited and published for organizational and personal reasons by the senior author. Since our entomological field studies in Southeast Asia came to a complete standstill in 2020/21 due to the Covit-19 pandemic, a time-consuming revision of the Brahmaea manuscript was decided. It was quickly established that, in the meantime, various studies of the Brahmaeidae family led to numerous new results and in particular genetic studies of the Bombycoidea to taxonomic changes in the systematics of individual taxa and also to the description of several new species. Some planned taxonomic changes and type designations, which were part of the original manuscript, had in the meantime been validly published by other authors. In the final version of the 'Brahmaeidae of the World' that is now available, new results of studies and new names have been incorporated in the best possible way, as far as they were known from the literature and available to us. For the first time, an attempt is made to present a more recent, complete literature review of the Brahmaeidae. The unexpected volume of this work, which grew from originally around 120 manuscript pages to at times up to almost 600 manuscript pages, made it necessary to subdivide it into certain subject topics, genera, sub-genera and / or species groups. This classification will also facilitate planned additions or corrections that might become necessary later.
This first coherent analysis of the Brahmaeidae family is not intended to represent a revision, but merely to show the current state of knowledge, to address recurring errors in the literature and to point out previously unsolved taxonomic problems. In particular, it should provide a good working basis for urgently needed further studies, genus revisions or an overall revision of the family Brahmaeidae SWINHOE, 1892.
Part IA deals specifically with B. (Brahmophthalma) wallichii wallichii (GRAY, 1831) of the wallichii-group (sensu Paukstadt & Paukstadt 2021) of the subgenus Brahmophthalma MELL, 1928."

"The wild silkmoths of the subfamily Saturniinae BOISDUVAL, [1837] 1834 (Lepidoptera: Saturniidae) of the Indonesian fauna are discussed within annotated checklists in this contributions to knowledge the wild silkmoths of the Indonesian Archipelago. The present paper is the 5th part of this series to knowledge the genus Cricula WALKER, 1855 and deals with the literature on the genus Cricula. At the time being 59 taxa (plus 1 species inquirenda) are recognized for the genus Cricula which are distributed in numerous species-groups and subgroups. With this contribution we continue our series to knowledge the wild silkmoths of the Indonesian Archipelago. Though our studies on the Indonesian wild silkmoths are not yet completed we intend to publish our preliminary results to make these available for further studies and discussions."

"The senior author commenced studying Heterocera (Lepidoptera) at the age of fifteen. In 1969, the first smaller paper about a moth from the North German lowlands was published. This publication was followed by numerous other shorter and longer contributions to knowledge the wild silk moths, in particular contributions on the biology and ecology of the Saturniidae and Brahmaeidae (Lepidoptera) of Southeast Asia, travel reports on expeditions to many islands of the Indonesian Archipelago, descriptions of new taxa and other taxonomic works. From about 1974 the author was assisted by his Indonesian wife Laela Hayati. Some species of the Asian fauna were reared by her for the first time being and the life histories were recorded. Over the years, the authors tried to learn as much as possible about the biology and ecology of the wild silk moths. This happened either during the laboratory breeding in Germany and also in the field in the Indonesian outback and in Malaysia. After fifty years of activities as amateur entomologists, a collection of contributions has been created, which is to be presented here completely in chronological order for the first time. Besides a list of entomological papers all descriptions of new taxa and taxa, which were named after the authors are listed as well."
