Abstract:

"The following contribution to knowledge the wild silkmoths deals in particular with a remarkable intergeneric hybrid of the tribus Attacini Blanchard, 1840: ♂ Archaeoattacus edwardsii (White, 1859) (Attacus) of the genus Archaeoattacus Watson in Packard in Cockerell, 1914 from Shillong, Meghalaya Province, India X ♀ Attacus atlas atlas (Linnaeus, 1758) of the genus Attacus Linnaeus, 1767 from Java I., West Java Province, Indonesia. The artificial hybrid was reared by the senior author in 2013/2014. The 2nd instar larva, the mature larva and the male hybrid are described and illustrated in color for the first time being. The male adults show characters of both parent species as well as intermediate ones, characters of A. atlas atlas predominate."
