HOLOTYPE [♂] Colombia: [Bolivar,] Simiti [USNM]. Schaus erroneously stated that the holotype was a female. The holotype locality label appears to say "Simiti Col" but this is not entirely certain.
Taxonomic Notes:
The habitus and male genitalia are very close to those of Cautethia yucatana and it is possible that the holotype of Cautethia simitia is synonymous with that species.
