| Abstract: | "Three new taxa in the genus Smerinthulus Huwe, 1895 (Lepidoptera: Sphingidae) are described and figured: Smerinthulus baonganae n. sp., S. perversa bachmaensis n. ssp., both from from C Vietnam, and S. mirabilis lamdongensis n. ssp. from S Vietnam. All holotypes are deposited in coll. Ronald Brechlin, Pasewalk (Germany) [CRBP], in coll. Museum Witt, Munich (which will be incorporated into the Zoologische Staatssammlung München/Munich, Germany). In addition, following Kitching (2016), the genus Degmaptera Hampson, 1896 syn. nov. is synonymized with Smerinthulus. Consequently, S. mirabilis (Rothschild, 1894) comb. nov. and S. schnitzleri (Melichar & Řezáč, 2014) comb. nov. are here transferred to Smerinthulus." |
