Abstract:

"The recent discovery of a new species of the Madagascan genus Maltagorea is reported, and the new species is described from morphological characters and from molecular data gathered in the context of a DNA barcoding campaign for the family Saturniidae. Maltagorea pseudovulpina n. sp. can only be distinguished from M. vulpina (Butler, 1880) by subtle differences and by a specific flight activity time of the male. DNA barcodes bring unequivocal support to the distinction of the new species."
