| Abstract: | "The recent publication of the global checklist of Bombycoidea by Kitching & al. (2018) calls for comments regarding genus Pseudoclanis. P. kenyae Clark, 1928, syn. nov., listed as a good species is here placed in synonymy of P. grandidieri (Mabille, 1879); P. abyssinicus (Lucas, 1857), stat. rev., listed as synonym of P. postica (Walker, 1856) is reinstated as bona species; P. somaliae is placed in synonymy of P. abyssinicus. the discovery of the female of the male assigned to P. bianchii (Oberthür, 1883) leads to the description of a new species, Pseudoclanis solennae n. sp., and to placing P. bianchii in synonymy with P. abyssinicus. Results of a molecular study as well as a comparative study of the morphology of male genitalia are discussed." |
