| Abstract: | "Atemnora westermannii (Boisduval, 1875) is here divided into three subspecies. The nominotypical subspecies, Atemnora westermannii westermannii (Boisduval, 1875) occurs in the Central and Occidental African forests. A second subspecies occurs in Eastern Africa, in at least Malawi, Tanzania and the eastern part of Haut-Katanga, Democratic Republic of Congo: Atemnora westermannii eastermanni n. ssp., while a third, is restricted to the island of Madagascar: Atemnora westermannii malgermanni n. ssp. The three subspecies are easily distinguished and occur each in a particular biogeographic zone." |
