| Abstract: | "The life-history of Antheraea (Telea) polyphemus mexicana HOFFMANN, 1942 (Lepidoptera: Saturniidae) from Oaxaca, Mexico is described and figured herein, taxonomic notes are presented. Eggs of this taxon were received with thanks from Bernhard Wenczel (Swiss) via ACTIAS (forum and internet exchange for insects and spiders). The indoor rearing was carried out by the authors successfully on evergreen oak, Quercus x hispanica LAM. (Fagaceae) as substitute host plant. The number of 8 larvae hatched from 04.ix.2021. The first cocoon (1 out of 8) was spun on 14.x.2021. The mature larvae have been 11.5 grams in weight before spinning the cocoons." |
