Abstract: | "Part 2 of “Notes on the taxa of the genus Coscinocera BUTLER, 1879 with descriptions of new species from New Guinea and the adjacent smaller islands (Lepidoptera: Saturniidae)” in particular deals with the systematic based on DNA-analyses (by BOLD), a distribution map of all taxa, color illustrations of type specimens, acknowledgements, and literature. Type specimens of seven new species are figured in color dorsally and ventrally. Those are C. karkarensis U. PAUKSTADT & L.H. PAUKSTADT sp. nov., C. batantaensis U. PAUKSTADT & L.H. PAUKSTADT sp. nov., C. arafuraensis U. PAUKSTADT & L.H. PAUKSTADT sp. nov., C. jayawijayaensis U. PAUKSTADT & L.H. PAUKSTADT sp. nov., C. cendrawasihensis U. PAUKSTADT & L.H. PAUKSTADT sp. nov., C. sudirmanensis U. PAUKSTADT & VAN SCHAYCK sp. nov., and C. buloloensis U. PAUKSTADT & L.H. PAUKSTADT sp. nov. Male genitalia structures are illustrated. Some pin-labels of historical specimens in coll. MZB / Museum Zoologicum Bogoriense (Bogor, Cibinong, West Java) are reproduced in color." |
