| Abstract: | "In the overview of the Sphingidae of the Western Palearctic (PITTAWAY 2021), on base of a very few records of the Pine hawkmoth adults documented in North America, the assumption is made that this species could eventually have originated from there and populated the Old World recently. This possibility is discussed with respect to evolutionary aspects proposed in Dvořák (2019) for the Privet hawkmoth Sphinx ligustri LINNAEUS, 1758, and proved on behalf of a comparative view between the next relatives of this coniferophilous species." |
