Abstract:

"The genus Catacantha Bouvier, 1930 is partially revised, with a focus on the oculata species-group. We recognise nine species, four of which were previously described: C. oculata (Schaus, 1921), C. ferruginea (Draudt, 1929), C. bahiginea Brechlin & Meister, 2012, and C. zemaria C. Mielke, Ciseski & Naumann, 2020. Five species are described as new from southeastern and southern Brazil: C. atlantica sp. n. (Espírito Santo, Rio de Janeiro, and São Paulo), C. caraca sp. n. (Minas Gerais), C. naessigi sp. n. (Santa Catarina), C. incognita sp. n. (Santa Catarina), and C. amana sp. n. (Minas Gerais and São Paulo). All holotypes are deposited in DZUP, Coll. Padre Jesus S. Moure, Departamento de Zoologia, Universidade Federal do Paraná, Curitiba, Paraná, Brazil. Catacantha tabeae Brechlin, Meister & van Schayck, 2010, syn. n. is synonymised as a junior subjective synonym of C. ferruginea. All species are illustrated, including details of their genitalia."
