| Abstract: | "Bombycoidea is a globally distributed superfamily of the order Lepidoptera with 10 families. In this paper, a checklist of four families and 57 species of moths belonging to superfamily Bombycoidea are presented. The family, Sphingidae was observed with the highest species diversity of 38 species. Two species Clanis titan, Rothschild and Jordan, 1903 and Daphnis hypothous (Cramer, 1780) were revealed as first report to Maharashtra, followed by the family Eupterotidae with 11 species, of which, two as wet season forms of Eupterote undata was first time reported at an elevation of 800 m to 1200 m. Alongside family Bombycidae and Saturniidae was studied contributing four species each." |
