| Abstract: | "Bischofia javanica BLUME, a plant species of the genus Bischofia BLUME of the tribe Bischofieae of the family Phyllanthaceae MARTYNOV is confirmed as primary hostplant of larvae of Attacus atlas atlas (LINNAEUS, 1758) (Lepidoptera: Saturniidae) from Java. The genus Bischofia is ranging in southern China, the Indian subcontinent, Malesia including New Guinea, Queensland, and islands in the Pacific like Fiji, Niue, Samoa, Tonga, Vauata, Cook, and the Society Isl., and has a single species in Malesia, see van Welzen (2016) https://doi.org/10.3767/000651916 X694337. B. javanica has been recorded as hostplant for A. atlas but this record has been not fixed to any particular population, see Peigler (1989). Meister (2011) listed B. javanica as host plant for A. atlas and added some names in synonymy of A. atlas which are partly recognized as subspecies and a very few might be even good species distinct from A. atlas. His hostplant record remains valid for A. atlas s.l. but not for a particular taxon of the atlas-group." |
