Distribution and range extension of Eupanacra busiris busiris (Walker, 1856) (Lepidoptera : Sphingidae) to Meghalaya

"The present study reports the first record of Eupanacra busiris busiris (Walker, 1856) (Lepidoptera: Sphingidae) from Meghalaya, India. A single adult male individual was observed and documented under nocturnal conditions. The species was identified based on distinct morphological characteristics, including elongated forewings with a strongly sinuate outer margin and a characteristic green rippled pattern. The species known from various parts of South and Southeast Asia, including northeastern India but there are no previous confirmed records from Meghalaya. The present finding extends the known distribution of the species within the Indo-Burma biodiversity hotspot and highlights the under-explored nature of moth diversity in the region. The study emphasizes the importance of systematic surveys and documentation in improving baseline data on Lepidoptera."
