| Abstract: | "A review of the status of species from the genus Macroglossum in Hong Kong is given, along with a key to adults to aid identification of similar species in the field. Currently there are 18 species recorded from Hong Kong, though several of these have occurred only once. The ecology of the species is given, where known. Many species are diurnal or crepuscular and attracted to nectar-rich flowers, especially Duranta erecta L. (Verbenaceae). Larval hosts in Hong Kong are primarily from Rubiaceae. A further two species are candidates to be found in Hong Kong, based upon their known regional distribution." |
