Abstract:

Summary The comparison of the IOC sequences leads to separate the populations of Coelonia fulvinotata from Madagascar and the one of the African continent. A morphological study of habitus and genitalia confirms the creation of a new taxon : Coelonia insularis n. sp. Reminder of the various species of Caelonia with comparisons by their genitals."

STI taxonomic comments:
In the description of the included newly proposed taxon, "Coelonia insularis", there was no explicit statement indicating the name and location of the collection in which the holotype was, or was to be, deposited. Consequently, the requirements of Article 16.4.2 of the International Code of Nomenclature were not fulfilled and "Coelonia insularis" was at this time an unavailable name.
