Abstract: | "The authors revise the Sphingidae of the Xylophanes tyndarus (Boisduval, 1875) species group. They illustrate the habitus and male genitalia of all the known species. Xylophanes splendens stat. nov. Haxaire, 2014, originally described as a subspecies of X. tyndarus, is upgraded to species status. Choerocampa jocasta Druce, 1888, currently synonymized with X. pistacina (Boisduval, 1875), is reinstated as a species, X. jocasta stat. rev. & comb. nov. A sixth species, Xylophanes louisae sp. n., is described from Guatemala." |
