| Abstract: | "The present study provides a checklist of moth fauna from different localities of District Solan of Himachal Pradesh. In all, 103 species of moths referable to 94 genera, 13 families and 8 superfamilies are enlisted which have been documented by using light trapping method in the month of April 2025, during pre-monsoon season With 31 species each, the families Erebidae and Geometridae have been observed with the highest species diversity, around 60%, followed by Crambidae (9 species), Noctuidae (8 species), Pyralidae (7 species), Notodontidae (3 species), Sphingidae (3 species), Limacodidae (3 species), Drepanidae (2 species), Nolidae (2 species), Lasiocampidae (2 species), Tortricidae (1 species) and Saturniidae (1 species). In addition to providing a baseline for upcoming taxonomic, ecological and conservation research in the area, the present checklist advances our understanding of moth diversity in the Western Himalayas." |
