Eumorpha strenua (Taxonomy)
Transferred to Eumorpha by d'Abrera, [1987], Sphingidae Mundi: 120.
Similar in overall appearance to Eumorpha satellitia posticatus and Eumorpha mirificatus, differing from the former in the conspicuously highlighted veins on the forewing upperside, and from the latter most obviously in the broader oblique apical stripe and dorsal abdominal stripe and the lack of any pinkish tone to the median area of the hindwing upperside. Abdomen with dorsal stripe slightly to distinctly narrower and less conspicuous than in Eumorpha satellitia posticatus, but clearly visible. Forewing upperside similar to Eumorpha satellitia posticatus but: the dark patch midway along posterior margin rhombiform (not triangular); Rs3 to CuA2 all conspicuously pale; tornal angle with a broad pale line reaching CuA1. Hindwing upperside as Eumorpha satellitia posticatus but a short submarginal line between CuA2 and 1A rather than a series of spots. Uncus pointed, as in Eumorpha satellitia satellitia. Valve dorsal margin slightly concave. Harpe nearly as long as in Eumorpha anchemolus but more slender, apex more pointed and upcurved, intermediate between Eumorpha satellitia satellitia and Eumorpha vitis vitis. Aedeagus apical process long, pointed, about five times as long as aedeagus is broad.
