Eupanacra radians (Taxonomy)
Raised to species status by Roesler & K├╝ppers, 1977, Bonn. zool. Beitr.28: 163. Erroneously considered to be "no more than a strongly differentiated race of sinuata R. & J." by d'Abrera, [1987], Sphingidae Mundi: 136, who nevertheless retained its specific status. Transferred to Eupanacra by Cadiou & Holloway, 1989, Lambillionea89: 139. Erroneously returned to Panacra by Bridges, 1993, Cat. Fam. Gen. Spec. Sphingidae of the World: VIII.19. Transferred back to Eupanacra by Kitching & Cadiou, 2000, Hawkmoths of the world: 46.
Similar to Eupanacra sinuata but smaller and with the pattern elements more prominent; forewing apex less produced; hindwing narrower and less projecting at the tornus. Forewing underside with costal/proximal half dark brown, rather than the greyish as in Eupanacra sinuata, outer/distal half mainly reddish brown with postmedian lines much more prominent than in Eupanacra sinuata. Hindwing upperside with the submarginal pale band more extensive and prominent than in Eupanacra sinuata. Hindwing underside with a prominent pale band near the inner margin; submarginal band reddish, more extensive and prominent than in Eupanacra sinuata. Forewing length 24.5 mm.
