Eupanacra splendens
Habitus: Immediately recognizable by the semi-transparent spot between Rs4 and M1, midway between the outer margin and the base of M1, with a smaller white spot distal to it. Similar to Eupanacra busiris busiris in having the forewing strongly angled at M2 but immediately distinguishable by the lack of strong uniform green coloration on the forewing upperside and the broad orange median area of the hindwing upperside. Abdomen underside lacking large wedge shaped spots on the third and fourth segments. Hindwing upperside with a broad, pale orange median band that nearly reaches the costa. Generally paler than the female. Forewing underside with median area reddish-brown gradually fading to greenish distally, not dark brown with a sharp, irregular distal edge as in Eupanacra busiris busiris. Forewing upperside much less green than in the male and than Eupanacra busiris busiris; a distinct black median line runs from the inner margin to the semi-transparent spot. Forewing underside costal darker area broader than in the male, but narrower than in Eupanacra busiris busiris, with the median dark line forming a straight boundary with the distal reddish brown area, not a ragged line as in Eupanacra busiris busiris. Uncus sinuate, intermediate between Eupanacra regularis regularis and Eupanacra malayana.
Male genitalia: Gnathos upcurved, tapering. Valve with numerous small stridulatory scales. Harpe about as long as in Eupanacra regularis regularis, twisted and somewhat spatulate. Phallus apical process with right and left lobes equally broad, broader than in Eupanacra regularis regularis.
