Eupanacra splendens paradoxa (Taxonomy)
Forewing with outer margin more deeply excavate below apex than in Eupanacra splendens splendens, more similar to Eupanacra busiris busiris; angle at M2 more pronounced, making the posterior part of the outer margin appear more concave. Body and legs much darker than in Eupanacra splendens splendens. Abdomen underside with two fairly large wedge shaped spots on the third and fourth segments. Forewing upperside similar to Eupanacra splendens splendens but with all markings sharper; dark subapical mark larger and blacker; proximal transparent mark between Rs4 and M1 larger and sharply defined. Forewing underside with basal two-thirds blackish-brown, apical third dark greenish-grey. Hindwing upperside without a brown submarginal band, whole wing being more or less black apart from a slightly paler area near tornus. Hindwing underside darker than in Eupanacra splendens splendens, especially the markings.
