Taxonomic Notes:
The analysis of the higher classification of Sphingidae using five nuclear genes by Kawahara et al. (2009: Figure 3) placed Gnathothlibus as the strongly supported sister-group of a clade comprising genus Eupanacra + tribe Choerocampina.
