Hemaris rubra
Most similar to Hemaris croatica croatica but distinguishable by the uniform brown colour of the forewing upperside with indistinct transparent areas. Ventral lobes of pulvillus vestigial; arolium very small. Forewing upperside with transparent areas not sharply defined, shaded over with red-brown scales, and sometimes vestigial. Hindwing upperside without transparent areas. Similar to Hemaris tityus but:Gnathos apically broader and more obliquely rounded. Juxta apically hairy.Right valve feebly sinuate beyond middle at ventral margin.Left harpe less projecting; right harpe longer and more slender, with long subapical and apical spines that are equal in length to the diameter of the harpe.Aedeagus process less pointed (but more pointed than in Hemaris croatica).
