Hippotion adelinae
Similar in forewing and hindwing shape, and male genitalia, to Hippotion stigma.
Male: Ground colour much darker than Hippotion stigma; yellowish spot present below the apex and tornus with a very clear W-shaped spot (both absent in Hippotion stigma); discal spot comma-shaped (a simple point in Hippotion stigma).
Female: Ground colour much darker than Hippotion stigma; apical yellowish spot present (absent in Hippotion stigma); black marginal band extends to the tornus (present only at the anal angle in Hippotion stigma) [Schmit incorrectly described this band as costal].
Male genitalia: Similar to Hippotion stigma but upper edge of uncus relatively straight; apex of valve truncate; harpe more sclerotized; phallus apical process with a short triangular tooth on the right.
