Hippotion geryon
Similar in habitus to Hippotion osiris but immediately distinguishable by the lack of pink coloration on the hindwing upperside and the single pair of black abdominal patches. Upperside of antennae conspicuously pink-scaled. Base of abdomen a single pair of large, square, black subdorsal patches. Forewing upperside very similar to Hippotion osiris but differing in the distal part of the longitudinal pale band through the discal cell being absent beyond the discal spot so that the silvery-white basal section of vein M1 is highly conspicuous against the dark brown background. Hindwing upperside dark brown with a buff patch on the inner margin and a buff postmedial band.
Male genitalia: Uncus gradually narrowed, truncate, feebly sinuate. Gnathos parallel-sided, convex ventrally, apically rounded-truncate. Harpe obtuse, irregularly curved, pointing dorso-distad, apex somewhat flattened. Phallus with two subdorsal, longitudinal series of teeth, the left a little more proximal than the right.
