Hippotion irregularis
Superficially similar to Theretra latreillii and Theretra tryoni but forewing narrower, outer margin more convex and apex more falcate. FWL: 33-36 mm. Cavity at apex of labial palp segment 1 sharply defined (as in Theretra), the scaling bordering it very regular. External rows of spines of forebasitarsus doubled and tripled. Forewing upperside with transverse lines weakly marked; fifth postmedial line highlighted by a series of vein dots; a diffuse brown patch just distal to discal spot and another distal to the fifth postmedian line. Forewing underside with brown marginal band, joined along M2 to the brown basal area.
Male genitalia: uncus rather broad, only slightly narrowed apically, convex above, concave below, apex rounded, slightly sinuate; gnathos narrow, curving dorsad, pointed, forming a hook; valve with four large stridulatory scales; harpe with two heavily sclerotized processes, shaped like ox-horns, one horizontal, the other vertical; phallus with a single, rather heavy, subapical tooth.
