Reinstated as a species and transferred to Hyles by Pittaway, 1983, Entomologist's Gaz.34: 78. Implicitly treated as a subspecies of Hyles euphorbiae by Meerman, 1993, Entomologist's Gaz.44: 206. Implicitly reinstated as a species by Danner, Eitschberger & Surholt, 1998, Herbipoliana4 (1): 261.
