LECTOTYPE ♂ NE Persia [Iran]: Schahrud [Emāmrūd] [MNHU]; implicitly designated by Denso, 1913, Dt. ent. Z., Iris 27: plate 1, fig.4. The same specimen was unnecessarily re-designated as lectotype by Danner, Eitschberger & Surholt, 1998, Herbipoliana 4 (1): 295.

Taxonomic Notes:

Synonymized with Deilephila hippophaës [sic] as a [geographic] variety by Staudinger, 1901, in Staudinger & Rebel, Cat. Lepid. Pal. Faunen. 1: 102.

Nomenclature notes:

This taxon was also referred to by Christoph, 1873, Horae Soc. ent. Ross. 10: 31, as "Deilephila spec."
