Laothoe populi
Diagnostic description:
Ground colour of wings variable from pale buff, through pale browns, reds (mainly in females) and differing shades of grey to an almost black suffusion.
Male genitalia: Similar to Laothoe amurensis, Laothoe austauti and Laothoe populeti. Uncus narrower than in Laothoe populeti and longer than in Laothoe amurensis. Gnathos shorter than in Laothoe populeti and less evenly convex below than in Laothoe amurensis, with its lobes less straight and its apex less obtuse. Harpe with lobes less triangular than in Laothoe austauti, broader and shorter than in Laothoe populeti and much narrower than in Laothoe amurensis. Phallus with more spines than in Laothoe populeti.
