HOLOTYPE ♀ [United States:] Florida, summer 1878 (G.D. Hulst) [FMNH]. Clark, 1919, Proc. New Engl. zool. Club 6: 102, confirmed the suggestion of Holland, 1903, The Moth Book: 53, that the holotype is aberrant. He also claimed that the type locality was “Enterprise, Florida” but there is no evidence for this in the original description. The basis for Clark’s assertion, which has been followed by several other authors, is not known.
