Macroglossum albigutta
A very dark species. Distinct white line above eye. Abdomen upperside with 2 prominent white basal spots on 7th tergite; side tufts on 6th and 7th segments brownish black; a yellow side patch present on 3rd segment, but only a few yellow scales on segments 2 and 4, unlike Macroglossum albigutta floridense. Underside of palp and middle of thorax greyish white. Thorax dark brown laterally. Abdomen underside 7th sternite with a white mesial spot, not a line as in Macroglossum albigutta floridense. Forewing upperside with olive-black band proximal to the median band dilated basad at hind margin, not sharply defined proximally; medial band narrow, straight, as in Macroglossum hirundo hirundo, white and very prominent, unlike in Macroglossum albigutta floridense; discal band distal to the medial band broad, ill-defined distally, dilated distad between veins M1 and M3, thus joined to a broad postdiscal band that extends from the 2 subapical patches between veins Rs3 and M1 to the hind margin, interrupted between veins M1 and M3; the area distal to the postdiscal band slightly greyish, as are the post-medial costal area and the basal area. Underside of both wings dark brown, with distal border darker, the lines indistinct, the 3rd being the best marked. Hindwing upperside distal border convex, broader than the yellow band, which is interrupted, unlike in Macroglossum albigutta floridense. Hindwing underside anal area sharply defined yellow. Forewing length 23 mm.
