Macroglossum meeki
Similar to Macroglossum passalus and Macroglossum faro. Distinguished from them by the presence of the broad black postdiscal band of the forewing upperside that runs from the costal to hind margin; by the antemedial band of the forewing upperside being more distal posteriorly; by the yellow band of the hindwing upperside being interrupted; by the presence of white spots on the dorsal side of the 2nd abdominal segment, etc.
Head upperside slate-coloured, with a darker dorsal midline. Thorax upperside of olive green; mesothoracic tegula unicolorous, as in Macroglossum faro, without an oblique line bordering a darker area seen in Macroglossum passalus. Abdomen upperside tergites without dark dorsal basal dots, the 3rd with 2 white spots; 3 separate yellow side patches on segments 2 to 4; side tufts all tipped with yellow, not white; anal tuft also with yellow tip. Palp underside slaty grey, speckled with white. Underside of thorax and legs clayish ochre; femora and sides of thorax brownish. Abdomen underside with 3 basal sternites yellow, with burnt umber side patches; the remaining segments burnt umber. Forewing upperside with 2nd antemedial line straight, forming a band with the 1st line, which is difficult to trace as the basal area of the wing is nearly as dark as the band; median area of wing reddish grey, fading distally; 1st discal line very faint; 2nd a little more prominent, evenly curved anteriorly, and with a broad black band distal to it that extends from the costal margin near the apex to the hind margin at the hind angle, the distal edge of this band well defined, concave; marginal area drab. Underside of both wings walnut-brown, the distal borders dark brown. Forewing underside with extreme base yellow. Hindwing upperside with the yellow band interrupted, not reaching the costal edge, and not produced towards the apex of the wing; brown border broad, convex in middle. Hindwing underside with base and anal area yellow, the discal area also shaded with yellow posteriorly. Forewing length: 27 mm.
Male genitalia: Very similar to Macroglossum faro, but the tip of the harpe not denticulate.
