Macroglossum pachycerus
Similar to Macroglossum aesalon with the following differences: antennae obviously longer and thicker, the terminal segment shorter, no longer than the 3 subterminal segments together; abdomen with 3, not 4, orange lateral spots, segments 5-7 black, contrasting sharply with the proximal segments, the base of the 6th white; tips of the longest scales of the anal brush cream or buff; underside of palpus, middle of thorax, and 1st and 2nd pair of legs cream; abdomen underside with mesial patches on first 3 sternites more tawny; forewing upperside deeper in colour than Macroglossum aesalon, the markings less prominent; 2nd discal line heavier, the space between the 1st and 2nd nearly filled with black scaling; no discal spot; hindwing upperside orange band narrower; hindwing underside with yellow colouring less extended distally, more sharply defined, the discal lines less distinct or absent.
Male genitalia: Like Macroglossum aesalon, but: uncus narrower apically; gnathos broader; harpe broader, the apex curved basad and densely spinose; phallus with dentate process of long, acute; only one, 3-edged cornutus.
