Macroglossum rectans
Diagnostic description:
Similar to Macroglossum hirundo errans, but less grey. Abdomen upperside with a small, transverse, yellow lateral mark on 2nd segment, a large one on the 3rd and 4th; side tufts on segments 5 and 6 light brownish yellow rather than white. Forewing upperside with medial grey band oblique, as in Macroglossum hirundo hirundo, narrow, straight; a small subapical spot between veins Rs4 and M1. Both wings undersides more reddish brown than in Macroglossum hirundo errans. Hindwing upperside yellow band narrowing costad, much narrower than in Macroglossum hirundo errans; at vein M2 it is about half the width of the black distal border, which is itself distinctly convex from vein Sc+R to 1A.
