Macroglossum stigma
Distinguished from Macroglossum sitiene and Macroglossum heliophila by the distal position of the 2nd discal line of the forewing, by its prominent black discal spot, and by the white spots of the 7th abdominal tergite. Head and thorax uppersides with a dark midline. Tegula with a large blackish area, anteriorly bordered by an oblique greyish line. Abdomen upperside with one yellow lateral patch, on the 3rd segment; 7th tergite with 2 conspicuous white basal spots, black in the middle; anal tuft blackish brown; all side tufts white-tipped. Underside of palpus, middle of thorax, mesial abdominal patches all greyish white. Sides of thorax, legs and abdomen deep brown. Forewing upperside with basal area shaded with reddish grey; median area also reddish grey, with a prominent black discal spot; space between the 2 antemedial lines filled with black, forming a broad, slightly curved band, dilated basad posteriorly; 1st and 2nd discal lines slightly concave at vein CuA1, gently curved costad anteriorly, the 1st weak, only clear anterior to the fork of veins Rs3 and Rs4, obliterated posteriorly; 2nd prominent, situated distally, crossing vein Rs4 2 mm. distal to its root, reaching the hind margin about 2 mm. from the angle, about 1.5 mm. from the prominent oblong spot in cell Rs4, and contiguous with the postdiscal line between veins M1 and CuA1. Both wings undersides blackish brown, with a few greyish scales in the submarginal region. Hindwing upperside black border very broad, strongly angled at vein CuA2, the yellow colour not extending beyond vein Sc+R. Hindwing underside 1st discal line almost obliterated; 2nd distinct; 3rd vestigial; yellow area reduced, not sharply defined, extend about halfway to the end of vein 2A. Forewing length 26 mm.
