Macroglossum trochilus
Antennae long, reaching or surpassing the fork between veins Rs3 and Rs4 in the male. Abdomen with orange buff lateral patches on segments 2-4 large, merged. Palp almost pure white. Undersides of thorax, extreme wing bases, and side tufts of abdomen pale maize-yellow. Underside of abdomen and most of wings rust coloured. Both wings undersides with distal margin having a russet-brown border. Hindwing upperside distal margin brownish-black, proximally bordered with chestnut-purple; medial area quite well-defined, orange-buff.
Male genitalia: Uncus pointed. Gnathos rounded at tip. Valve without stridulatory scales. Harpe short, upcurved, obtuse, the broader apical part hollowed out at the proximal side, the convex side densely dentate. Phallus with a longer, sharply pointed cornutus and a shorter, rounded one; apical process horizontal, long, with proximal edge denticulate.
