Antenna long and - in the male - thick for the size of the moth.Abdomen usually with 4 lateral, yellow patches, sometimes only 3. Foretarsus with 1st segment externally with 4 very strong spines and a few smaller ones.Hindtibia with the longer of the terminal pair of spurs 75% the length of the 1st tarsal segment.No pulvillus. Uncus similar to that of Manduca sexta, Manduca lucetius, more compressed, distinctly raised mesially.Gnathos with lateral edges turned upwards near apex.Valve elongate sole-shaped, the dorso-apical margin bent inwards.Harpe unusual in having only a single process, which is rounded apically and dentate at the dorsal margin.Aedeagus with tooth long, apical distinctly turned dorsad, similar to Manduca muscosa. 8th abdominal tergite mesially concave, appearing sinuate apically, with the more sclerotised sides quite prominent.Ante-ostial lobe long, triangular, apex rounded, oblique basal ridges continuous mesially, not greatly elevated, almost at right-angles to each other, the angle strongly rounded.
