Manduca gueneei
Overall, intermediate between Manduca undata and Manduca lichenea. Antennae light brown above, white beneath. First and second labial palp segments basally dark brown and apically white, third segment light brown. Head, thorax and abdomen uppersides grey with scattered dull red. Abdomen with prominent dorsal transverse black bands, and an interrupted median stripe. Abdomen ventrally white. Forewing upperside: grey (lighter than Manduca lichenea, darker than Manduca undata), with scattered olive-green scales as in Manduca lichenea; general pattern similar to Manduca undata, but with the two black discal streaks running between R3 and M2 almost obsolete (prominent in Manduca undata). Hindwing upperside pattern as in Manduca lichenea, but with the black transverse lines and bands faint; three prominent submarginal discal areas present on R3, M1 and from the inner margin to M2 near the hind angle, as in Manduca lichenea. Forewing underside: brown, paler than Manduca undata, and much paler than Manduca lichenea; discal lines faint. Hindwing underside: similar to Manduca undata but with the two parallel discal bands much fainter. Forewing length: 44 mm.
