Similar to Manduca dalica, but wings narrower. Colour intermediate between Manduca dalica and Manduca rustica. Antenna slender, shorter and thinner than in Manduca dalica, with white scaling at the base. Frons with a white transverse band connecting the bases of the antennae, as in Manduca rustica; sides and anterior edge with cinnamon scales. Mesonotum with white lateral stripe continued over pronotum; collar with 3 buffish white spots. Abdomen upperside very similar to that of Manduca rustica, with 3 yellow side patches, 2 widely separated rows of white dots, a mesial row of rather indistinct black dots, the posterior tergites more extensively chalky white than in either Manduca dalica or Manduca rustica. Underside of body chalky. Labial palp with 1st segment, except for a stripe along the eye, and a basal triangular spot of 2nd segment white. Legs brown above, ringed with white. Foretarsus with 1st segment shorter than tibia, with 3 very long external spines. Pulvillus present. Forewing upperside intermediate between those of Manduca dalica and Manduca rustica; a triangular costal space anterior to discal spot, the space between the antemedian and 1st discal lines, and the space between the 3rd discal and 1st post-discal lines all pale, suffused with buff; a large apical patch anterior to the oblique apical line, and a submarginal patch posterior to it both white; a smaller white patch and a submarginal zigzag line near the hind angle; a black streak connects the 3rd antemedian and 1st discal lines between veins CuA1 and CuA2; discal lines sharply dentate, 2nd and 3rd close together, with the space between spotted with white, the lines more evenly curved than in Manduca rustica; fringe with white spots large, extending onto the wing membrane. Underside of wings very similar to those of Manduca dalica. Hindwing upperside similar to that of Manduca dalica, but the pale distal band more distinct posteriorly and broader. 47 mm. Uncus strongly compressed, the apex prominent. Gnathos 20% shorter than uncus, gradually narrowed to the apex, which is broad and truncate, with the angle turned dorsad. Valve with dorsal margin almost straight. Harpe similar to those of Manduca trimacula and Manduca florestan: a large, deeply concave, almost circular plate, the distal edge dentate and produced ventrally into a short, triangular lobe; the inner surface of the harpe covered with small, elongate scales. Aedeagus with a stout apical process, projecting obliquely dextrad and distad.
