Monarda oryx
Genal process very obtuse, from beneath it protrude the hair-scales of the maxillary palpus. Labial palps not projecting, rough-haired like body and postero-basal areas of the wing. Proboscis short, not visible if rolled in. Pilifer with long bristles. Antenna nearly two-thirds the length of the forewing, segments somewhat dilated dorso-laterally, bipectinate ventrally at each side, the pectination long, compressed; end-segment short. Tibiae not spinose, spurs unequal, two pairs on hindtibia, longer apical spur about half the length of the first hindtarsal segment, which is not longer that segments 2 and 3 together; foretarsus short, segments almost equal in length except 4th, which is shorter, first with two long, stout, curved spines, one basal, the other apical; pulvillus and paronychium absent. Abdomen upperside with spines at the edges of the segments thin, narrow, long, very weak. Distal margin of wings convex, posterior angles round, not produced. Frenulum and retinaculum present. Forewing upperside with scales and most of the hairs deep rusty brown, except at costal and distal margins and upon veins, which are olive; two interrupted black antemedial bands; two discal series of black chevrons; a series of black postdiscal spots. Forewing underside with no rusty brown scales.
Male genitalia: Uncus slender, lanceolate, pointed, slightly curved downwards, extreme end more so, mesially carinate below. Gnathos also long, broader than tergite, gradually narrowed, sinuate, the angles acute and curved upwards. Juxta simple. Valve without stridulatory scales, large, sole-shaped. Harpe irregular, ending in an obliquely sinuate process, sharply pointed; at the dorsal side of the sinus there is a small tooth, between which and a more proximal, large, triangular tooth there is another sinus. Phallus with a long pointed process which curves proximad and laterad.
