Pachygonidia caliginosa (Taxonomy)
Transferred to Pachygonia by Felder, 1874 in Felder & Rogenhofer, Reise ├Âst. Fregatte Novara (Zool.) 2 (Abt. 2): pl. 75, fig. 10. Synonymized with Pachygonia subhamata by Kirby, 1892, Synonymic Cat. Lepid. Heterocera1: 637. Reinstated as a species by Rothschild & Jordan, 1903, Novit. zool.9 (suppl.): 409 (key), 410. Transferred to Pachygonidia by Fletcher, 1982, in Nye (ed.), Generic Names Moths of the World4: 115.
Forewing as in Pachygonidia subhamata but apex pointed (not truncate and sinuate between Rs3 and Rs4). Hindtarsus with a ventral crest only on the basitarsus and a dorsal crest on tarsomeres 1-3. Hindwing upperside with two median transverse pinkish-buff or yellowish-buff bands (as in Pachygonidia mielkei and Pachygonidia subhamata), the pink tone generally not very prominent. Uncus less compressed apically than in Pachygonidia caliginosa, more evenly rounded in lateral view.Gnathos rather broader than in Pachygonidia caliginosa.Subventral bar arising from the apex of the aedeagus much less curved, its right edge not serrate, apex bifid as in Pachygonidia hopfferi.
