LECTOTYPE ♂ Gold Coast [Ghana] [BMNH]; designated by Hayes, 1971, Bull. Brit. Mus. nat. Hist. (Ent.) 26: 234. Rothschild & Jordan (1906) gave the data as "Obuassi, Ashanti (G.E. Bergman)". However, it would appear that they repeated the data of the previously described species, Polyptychus poliades.
