Platysphinx constrigilis (Taxonomy)

Distinguished from other Platysphinx by: forewing upperside with speckles present but very small; hindwing underside with conspicuous white shading on disk; forewing shape more falcate; 55-65 mm. Larger, darker and with broader wings than male. 55-60 mm. Uncus broad, sides undulated, Gnathos produced into a long, slender, cylindrical and slightly club-shaped process. Valva narrowing towards apex, ventral margin dilated near base, then emarginated. Harpe represented by a proximal, pointed slightly curved process standing far apart from the valva. Aedeagus stout with apical margin produced laterally; short, ventral carinate process present. Sterigma with lamella antevaginalis folded mesally and with a large groove at each side; lamella postvaginalis slightly sunken proximally, mostly membranous and scaledOstium bursae situated between two compressed processes.
